12-7-2009 Dear Parents,                 Students have been working on building respect for the classroom community. Our goal is to create a classroom in which students help each other and show respect. This week we will continue to focus on hallway behavior, classroom meetings, and check in meetings. Rules and procedures are in place to ensure a happy and safe classroom.  Maintaining each child’s self esteem and building a secure foundation for future growth will always remain a priority in our classroom. Here are some ways you can help:                *Celebrate your child’s success, no matter how small it may seem. This will keep your child enthusiastic about learning and proud of their work!                *Check your child’s homework folder daily. It contains very important information. This is our way of communication with each other. Initial the behavior chart daily. If you have any comments or concerns please feel free to write them down or call.                *Read to and with your child everyday, if possible. The more your child is exposed to language, the easier it will be for him/her to incorporate new skills in reading and writing in the classroom.                *Please do not hesitate to call me at school or send in a note with any questions or concerns!                 *Talk to your child about their day.                *Complete the Home Side activities.                This week students will be attending dance class.  Students will be writing informational pieces. Students will be reading for comprehension and fluency. Students will work onmultiplication. Students will work on story problems and ordering numbers.  Students will learn about the properties of sound and how vibrations effect sound.
